Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).

In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium-high heat until no longer pink. Drain excess fat.

Add diced onion and green bell pepper to the skillet, cooking until softened (about 3–4 minutes).

Stir in ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.

Place Texas toast slices on a baking sheet and bake according to package directions until golden and crispy.

Spoon sloppy joe mixture generously over each slice of toast.

Sprinkle cheddar cheese on top of each and return to oven for 3–5 minutes, or until cheese is melted.
