# Steps to Follow:

- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and line a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
- Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder into a large bowl.
- Incorporate the granulated sugar into the dry mixture and mix thoroughly.
- Whisk the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl until combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until smooth.
- Gradually incorporate the hot brewed coffee, mixing until the batter becomes glossy and well combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 35–40 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack.
- Place chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Heat cream with salt until just boiling, then pour over chocolate. Let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
- Refrigerate ganache for 45 minutes, then whip with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
- Spread the whipped ganache generously over the cooled cake surface.
- Knead marzipan or modeling chocolate with food coloring to form small rat figures, tails, and ears. Use a toothpick or edible paints to add details, then dust with edible silver shimmer.
