Everything Bagel Yogurt Soft Bagels (Printable Version)

Soft, chewy bagels made using Greek yogurt with a savory everything seasoning topping.

# What You'll Need:

→ Dough

01 - 1 cup self-rising flour (130 g)
02 - 1 cup plain Greek yogurt, full-fat or low-fat (230 g)

→ Topping

03 - 1 large egg (for egg wash)
04 - 2 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - In a medium bowl, combine self-rising flour and Greek yogurt. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
03 - Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for 2 to 3 minutes until smooth and elastic. Avoid overworking.
04 - Divide dough into 4 equal portions. Roll each into a 7 to 8 inch rope and shape into a bagel by pinching ends together.
05 - Place shaped bagels onto the prepared baking sheet.
06 - Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush the tops of each bagel evenly.
07 - Sprinkle everything bagel seasoning generously over the egg-washed bagels.
08 - Bake for 22 to 25 minutes or until bagels are golden brown and cooked through.
09 - Allow bagels to cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes prior to serving.

# Additional Tips::

01 -
  • No yeast means no waiting around for dough to rise—you can have warm bagels on the table faster than you'd think.
  • The yogurt keeps everything tender and slightly tangy, like the best bagel shop quality but without leaving your kitchen.
  • Those everything bagels taste savory and complete, so you don't need much beyond cream cheese or whatever's in your fridge.
02 -
  • Don't knead this dough like you're making bread—overworking it will make your bagels dense and chewy in the wrong way; a gentle 2–3 minutes is all you need.
  • The ratio of yogurt to flour is crucial; if your dough feels too wet, your bagels will spread instead of puff, so mix mindfully and don't add extra flour unless absolutely necessary.
03 -
  • Beat your egg wash with just a splash of water so it spreads evenly and bakes into a nice glossy coat that makes these look like a bakery creation.
  • If you can't find everything bagel seasoning, mix equal parts sesame seeds, poppy seeds, garlic powder, onion powder, and fleur de sel for the same effect.
